The Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry is a nationally recognised qualification designed for those who wish to work in the industry. It is a compulsory qualification for anyone wishing to apply for their SIA Door Supervisor licence. A Door Supervisor is classed as Anyone who provides a security service in or at any premises, building or event that is licensed to sell alcohol to the public. This course is certified by Highfield Qualifications.
The Door Supervisor course is split into four sections:
- Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry (72 Question Multiple Choice exam and Practical Assessment)
- Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry (50 Question Multiple Choice exam and Practical Assessment)
- Application of Conflict Management in the Private Security Industry (20 Question Multiple Choice exam and Practical Assessment)
- Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry (30 Question Multiple Choice exam and practical assessment and Practical Assessment)
All four components must be completed and passed for the candidate to apply to the SIA for their licence.
Who is this course for?
The course is applicable to anyone who is wanting to work as a security operative within pubs, clubs, retail, events, festivals, and sports stadiums.
Course Prerequisites
All learners that attend this course must have, as a minimum:
- A valid First Aid qualification (valid for a minimum of 12 months) to participate in this course – If you do not meet this requirement, we have spaces available for the Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work course. The Emergency First Aid at Work course will be discounted to £65 when booked in addition to the Door Supervisor course. Please select a date for the Emergency First Aid at Work course before your Door Supervisor course date and add it to the basket. If both courses are added to the basket together, the discount will automatically be applied at checkout.
If you have a valid First Aid qualification before booking the course, please send proof of your valid First Aid qualification to info@onnpoint.co.uk to be accepted onto the course.
Please note that the minimum requirement is an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification (1 day) with at least 12 months of validity remaining.
Have English language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening equivalent to the following:
- A B2 Level qualification on the Home Office’s list of recognised English tests and qualifications.
- A B2 Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
What do I need to do after completing the course?
Once you have passed both sections of the course, you will need to apply to the SIA (Security Industry Authority) and pay their fee to gain your Door Supervisor Licence.
Course cost and duration
The course is held over 5-6 days (depending on previous qualifications) and therefore may require pre-learning to be completed before the course commences.
Recognition of Prior Learning. If you have previously completed the Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry unit contained in the Security Officer or CCTV course since April 2021, please inform us. If you can provide proof in the way of a certificate and course breakdown, then you will not have to attend day 1 of this course (it is your responsibility to inform us of this information). You cannot transfer unit achievement from previous security qualifications (those available before April 2021) to this qualification.
The course is available for £460 per person with EFAW and £395 per person without EFAW.
