This qualification is designed for anyone who currently holds a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a Security Officer and needs to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements. It allows them to meet their mandatory refresher requirements for door supervisors to retain their SIA licence. It is based on the relevant SIA specification for learning and qualifications. This course is certified by Highfield Qualifications.
The Security Officer (Refresher) Course is split into two sections.
- Principles of Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) (28 Question Multiple Choice Exam)
- Principles of Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) Practical Assessment
Who is this course for?
This qualification is designed for learners who completed their Level 2 Security Officer qualification after April 2021, OR have completed a Level 2 Security Officer Top-up qualification after April 2021. If you do not hold one of the following qualifications, the Level 2 Security Officer qualification after April 2021 or the Level 2 Security Officer Top-up qualification after April 2021, you must complete the entire Level 2 Security Officer qualification again.
Course Prerequisites
All learners who attend this course must have, as a minimum:
- A valid First Aid qualification (valid for a minimum of 12 months) to participate in this course. If you do not meet this requirement, we have spaces available for the Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work course. The Emergency First Aid at Work course will be discounted to £65 when booked in addition to the refresher course. Please select a date for the Emergency First Aid at Work course before your refresher course date and add it to the basket. If both courses are added to the basket simultaneously, the discount will be automatically applied at checkout.
If you have a valid First Aid qualification before booking the course, please send proof of your valid First Aid qualification to info@onnpoint.co.uk to be accepted onto the course.
Please note that the minimum requirement is an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification (1/2 day) with at least 12 months of validity remaining.
Have English language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening equivalent to the following:
- A B2 Level qualification on the Home Office’s list of recognised English tests and qualifications.
- A B2 Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
What do I need to do after completing the course?
Once you have passed both sections of the course, you will need to apply to the SIA (Security Industry Authority) and pay their fee to gain your Security Officer Licence.
Course cost and duration
The course is held over half a day and requires pre-learning to be completed before the course commences.
The course is available for £185 per person with EFAW and £120 per person without EFAW.
The cost includes exams and all course materials (Excluding Course Books).
